Oscar Brown

About

What first drew Oscar to the world of law was his desire to work in politics. He knew practicing as a lawyer would provide a steppingstone to politics, where he thought he would be best positioned to help people and do the most good.

Oscar’s ambitions have since moved away from politics, but his commitment to helping people has not changed.

Oscar obtained his Jurist Doctorate from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2007.  He then began his career in the world of politics, and was voted into office as University Park’s Village Trustee for three consecutive terms. The accomplishments from that time that he’s most proud of include a new interchange on I-57 and Stunkel Road to provide easier access to their community. He also helped bring two new developments to their industrial park, adding two major companies, which together, helped bring more than 200 jobs to the area.

Contemporaneous with his service as a Village Trustee, Oscar spent 12 years running his own law practice, helping clients with various legal issues.  He also had the opportunity to work for another law firm where he specialized in landlord/tenant law. That work allowed him to help both landlords and tenants all over Cook and Will Counties in Illinois.

Since joining O’Connor & Battle, Oscar has worked extensively with insurance companies to defend their insureds in a variety of legal matters, including slip and falls, auto accidents, premises liability matters, and commercial litigation, among others.  He regularly appears in state court throughout the State of Illinois on a regular basis.
